Mission of the project
Friends of Latino Youth provides educational enrichment opportunities in the form of arts and creative programs, scholarships, fundraising, workshops, services, and scholarships to make school a more memorable and enjoyable experience.
Students who have extra-curriculars, clubs, opportunity, and experiences are more likely to stay in school and more likely to graduate.

LYHS has an upgraded podcasting, recording, and video editing studio, and an updated maker space with the help from the Museum of Science and Industry.

Friends received a grant for a 3.5 year program to research, create, and work with students to produce a documentary about the rich history and culture of LYHS.

Fundraising is always underway for proms, dances, and other events that make high school a more equitable and memorable experince.

Covid put a damper on our plans, but Friends had arts and culture trips planned for Chicago High School students to visit New York and Costa Rico. Let's get those plans back in the calendar!
